What is Sylectus TMS? (Version 2) from Wienot Films on Vimeo.

This was an exciting video to see some together. I think the editing is amazing and really brought the drawings and the ideas into a cohesive ball of excitement!

a fun, fishy video!!!

This video was a blast to work on and I think the editing was wonderful.

Peg people family portrait

I think this was the first time I tried this character, it was a fun family portrait. I had hoped to use these characters in a video, looks like we have a client that has a similar character we will be using!

The rat race?

Trying to get a few extra paintings posted from the weekend. It was a great 4 day weekend with a couple of holidays going on. I would have liked to have done a little more for Valentines day but felt a little too restricted by distance. I hope to make that up soon. As for now here is another painting in my 22 painting challenge.

Some Bugs...

I am moving along toward completing my challenge of 22 paintings in a small sketchbook using only a dry brush approach. It has been a great learning experience emulating the work of other Master Illustrators.

Playing with shape...

I was able to acquire the scarecrow shapes for a mere nickel a piece and thought that a boring craft style tole painting approach just would not due, so I stylized them and will be using watercolor to brighten them up.

After having so much fun with them, I went back to the store and for not much over a quarter each I picked up a few other shapes and with the challenge of altering them interior design as much away from what the apparent exterior or cut out shape may appear to be I am coming up with as much of an original design as I can.

Keep in mind that I have been listening to some various podcasts and youtube videos that suggest that we are not as original as we think we are as we observe so much of life around us and other artists in and outside our field of labor that being original is simply taking the experiences and observations we have accumulated and arranging them in new or interesting ways. That is some of what I am trying to do here.

With the exception of the scarecrows, these are all the studies for the actual wooden shapes that will be drawn on with the fine tip ball point pen and then watercolored to add a bling of color!

A paint study!

This was a fun little technique study I did using a dry brush application and a Master Illustrator's design. I hope to complete my personal challenge of filling a small sketchbook with these soon!

Mater's Monday

Here are a few of this past weeks drawing that were heavily based on other artists that I saw and wanted to emulate in one way or another. It has been great learning from the works of other artists as I progress in my own style and design and art.

Construction drawing!

Just the other day I watched a video from the School of Visual Storytelling and was able to solidify a few concepts that I have been struggling with for ever. Check it out: How to draw everything by Jake Parker

Pirates are cool!

I love the idea of the pirate but I don't think I would like to actually do it, I don't like the idea of my teeth falling out from rot and bad nutrition!

Just the other day I attended, or watched online a web-inar about the fundamentals of drawing everything or the ability to draw everything: How to draw everything by Jake Parker!

Thumbnails

Finally feeling like I am in control of what a thumbnail is and how to work this with my art director/boss. He is great to work with and I am looking forward to more work every day!

Mr. Will

I took the challenge from a friend to copy 'Mater's' work and I choose Will Terry as one of my illustration inspirations. I am working on learning his technique of applying paint in a dry brush approach. The first several paintings will be exact or as exact as I can copies of his work trying to learn from him. As I develop within the technique I plan to explore the application within my own design and compositions.

Sketchbook

I am trying to share a little of this years goal to draw and paint every day. I have been somewhat restricted in my internet blogging opportunities but should be able to catch up in the next few days and share more of what I have been working on. Thanks for checking this out!
